Shire of Northam

The Shire of Northam is located in the Wheatbelt district of Western Australia and includes the townsites of Wundowie, Bakers Hill, Clackline, Spencers Brook, Northam and Grass Valley. It covers 1,443 sq km and has a population of around 10,500, of which the majority (65%) reside in Northam, with Wundowie and Bakers Hill also being significant population centres.

Whilst historically being considered to have a mono-economy based on agriculture, the Shire’s economic base is diversifying and includes tourism, retail, manufacturing, light industrial and mineral resources, as well as an expanding service industry.

Northam is the regional centre and was declared a SuperTown by the Western Australian Government in 2011. It is anticipated that the SuperTown initiative will add to the significant population growth that is already occurring in the Shire, with predictions that the Northam townsite population will grow from 7,000 to over 20,000 in the coming 20 years.

The Shire of Northam Administration Centre is located at 395 Fitzgerald Street, Northam. Other Shire services include: Wundowie Library, Northam Regional Library, Northam Visitor Centre, Northam Recreation Centre, plus numerous halls and sporting facilities also made available for use by the community.

Shire of Esperance - Civic Centre

Situated in the heart of Esperance, just a stones throw from picturesque Esperance bay, the Esperance Civic Centre provides the focal point of entertainment in the south east of Western Australia.

An undercover driveway affords patrons a sheltered access to the well appointed Auditorium Foyer, complete with refreshment bar and luxury seating.

The 514 seat auditorium has been generously tiered to provide superb uninterrupted views of the stage from all extremities. It's excellent acoustics are a delight for connoisseurs of fine music and theatre.

The community based facility is regularly favoured for concerts, drama, dance and music productions, conventions large and small, music festivals, graduation ceremonies, fashion parades, wedding receptions, religious services, quiz nights, luncheons, meetings, exhibitions... the list goes on.

Versatility is the key word for the venue, particularly so for the Auditorium with its amazing ability to be quickly converted from raked seating to a flat floor cabaret style setting, allowing over 340 guests to wine and dine at tables while enjoying fine entertainment.

Opened in 1981, the very popular Shire owned venue boasts extensive stage lighting and sound facilities, sufficient to satisfy most touring requirements. Easy stage level access makes bumping in a breeze for production crews.

With its adjoining 200 seat Reception Room, the Esperance Civic Centre is a truly multi-functional complex. It has a valued reputation for providing the most friendly and professional attention to hirers requirements, ensuring success for all who visit the beautiful Bay of Isles.

At Scallywags Child Care & Kindergarten we aim to provide quality child care in a happy, friendly and respectful environment.  We look for the co-operation and interest of parents to help us further develop children’s self esteem and abilities within our weekly programs. We believe children learn through interaction with adults and other children in addition to exploring elements within the Centre’s environment.  We value the thoughts, feelings and ideas of individual children. They are incorporated into the planned and spontaneous experiences offered daily to the children.
